"It could be a tangent ... into TERROR! It's not the Age of Aquarius anymore, no no!"
Dude, I just now figured out where my scar(s) on my ear is/are. At least, I think that's what those are ... a good "o_O" is to be had if not.

I had an odd day today ... or at least, what felt like one, for although odd things weren't really happening, what did happen seemed somehow out of place, or not in track with my expectations for the situation.

For example, my Modern Japan teacher complimented me on my exam, saying that it was very well done, "though perhaps a bit abstract," but those things were "not surprising" coming from me. He actually complimented me on my work. I got an 89/100 ... one point away from an A yet again, but ... whoa. An actual compliment? In class? Dude.

Even more surprising to me, I received compliments on my appearance. A girl said she really liked my shoes, and a different girl said that she thought my hair looked really cute the way I had it done up, and she thought it was a good style for me. ...

But the true kicker was yet to come. In Ancient World Wisdom (my last class of the day), we were told to leave everything but our book on the Tao behind and take a "walking meditation" as a group. I took my sketchbook with me anyway as we all walked to the park. The way things worked out, I wound up sitting next to the professor ... who just happened to ask me, of course, "are you going to sketch?" Was she trying to warn me away from doodling during class?

Past experience has taught me that professors do not appreciate it if you do anything that even remotely makes you look like you're not applying 100% of your attention to him/her and therefore to the course material. I remember in particular the years when I was prone to "sneak reading," which wound up getting me punished. I was tempted to say "no" as a result, but I knew that I could not bear to live through that hour without drawing ... and so I answered with an honest "yes," wondering what the professor would think.

Her response? "Good!"

... whoa.

I did a bit of friends list cleaning ... mostly folk's unused journals (which have no hope of ever seeing their owner again) were unfriended, and a few that I don't read in much detail anymore for one reason or another (quizzes, quizzes, and more quizzes). I've also modified my journal so that registered users of LJ can respond to my entries ... we'll see how that goes.

“Good”?

No fair. I’ve never ha a proffesr not frown upon doodling in class, even if it was just in the margins of my notes. Some of them were mildly amused, but beneath it all you could tell they’d rather you devoted your attention to the lecture at hand.

This is weird ... there are three "vanishing comments" on this entry ... two that I know have been made, but LJ keeps on telling me that there are no such entries ... and now they're gone ... and then there should be two others by friends ... and they never showed up.

How weird.

o_o

But at least yours is here. XD

I wondered if I was seeing things. When I first read your entry I could have sworn I saw two other comments, but then I hit submit and “POOF” no more comments. Maybe it’s me. I am Death to LJ comments.

Whoa crap! Where did the comments go?!

Coulda sworn they were here yesterday (two comments, and one by me that never showed)

I doodled all the time in school too... All my notes' margins would be filled with random shit. I was really unable to just sit there and take notes without making some doodles as well! I had to try so hard to keep my assignments clean. LOL.
