In other daily life news, I missed the Betye Saar lecture. If you've taken art history courses, you've probably heard of her - she's quite well known for her assemblages, particularly for her early, politically-oriented work. "The Liberation of Aunt Jemima," anyone ...? I'm upset with myself for missing it, but I can't quite describe how completely the event slipped my mind until 11 o'clock the next day. I had notes written to myself, it was on my list, emails, teachers telling me about it ... and yet, it was not in my mind whatsoever that night.
I'm not sure how my contemporary art history exam went. Beforehand, I was feeling pretty positive - I could go through all these artists and associate them with time periods, and what they'd done, and so on - but while in exam, I think my brain melted. Or, for example, she would show us a slide and ask for the title, when I could answer with basically anything else ... date, cultural relevance, artist, style period, etc. So I don't think I did too hot.

Yesterday, we went running around crazily in the rain. The suggestion was for dance, but all in all it was more or less a mad dash with some heroics (and embarrassments) tucked in here and there. Among the highlights were pushing a car out of a flooded underpass (the water went up to my knees), convincing other cars not to try to drive through, getting sick in the middle of it all and then later feeling better,
We took some extremely candid shots - these aren't exactly beautiful, by any means. : P Unfortunately, you only get one picture until I figure out what just happened with SmartFTP as I uploaded that caused all the other images to be renamed/deleted/huhness, and until I can redo all my thumbnails. XP So consider this a preview. All pictures brought to you by
