Beware the candids.
Marvin (my computer) is having some serious issues for some reason. I've never heard him make a beeping noise before, and I can't log into any of my sites that're on Hostrocket. Also, Winamp has chosen for some reason to think its playing, but only static comes out of the speakers (and you have to turn them way up to hear that). The speakers are alive, well, and connected (man, did I hear them when I restarted), but Winamp is a no go.

In other daily life news, I missed the Betye Saar lecture. If you've taken art history courses, you've probably heard of her - she's quite well known for her assemblages, particularly for her early, politically-oriented work. "The Liberation of Aunt Jemima," anyone ...? I'm upset with myself for missing it, but I can't quite describe how completely the event slipped my mind until 11 o'clock the next day. I had notes written to myself, it was on my list, emails, teachers telling me about it ... and yet, it was not in my mind whatsoever that night.

I'm not sure how my contemporary art history exam went. Beforehand, I was feeling pretty positive - I could go through all these artists and associate them with time periods, and what they'd done, and so on - but while in exam, I think my brain melted. Or, for example, she would show us a slide and ask for the title, when I could answer with basically anything else ... date, cultural relevance, artist, style period, etc. So I don't think I did too hot.

Oh yeah - I have no summer job. Those of you in the know are aware that I've worked at the same museum since I was sixteen. They, however, are apparently in tough financial times and can't afford to have me in regularly as they once did. Bah humbug, I really needed the money too.

Yesterday, we went running around crazily in the rain. The suggestion was for dance, but all in all it was more or less a mad dash with some heroics (and embarrassments) tucked in here and there. Among the highlights were pushing a car out of a flooded underpass (the water went up to my knees), convincing other cars not to try to drive through, getting sick in the middle of it all and then later feeling better, livinghole losing his pants</a>, and just generally being all around wet.

We took some extremely candid shots - these aren't exactly beautiful, by any means. : P Unfortunately, you only get one picture until I figure out what just happened with SmartFTP as I uploaded that caused all the other images to be renamed/deleted/huhness, and until I can redo all my thumbnails. XP So consider this a preview. All pictures brought to you by hypertechie's digital camera.

On the bright side, hypertechie's and my final performance for class voice is tonight, and it promises to be the most out there, craziest one of all. We intend to take pictures so that you all can see the madness.

Current Mood: busybusy
Current Music: None, because Winamp's gone bonkers.

Re: AdAware
Already been there, already done that. Problem solved, it wasn't anything other than Winamp being the normal strange self. XD

What did you do at the museum?

I got a job at a museum this summer. Todd set me up with all the morning hours. >< At least all I have to do is sit at the guard desk and make sure people don't break or steal anything. I can see pretty much everything from where I sit. It's a nice, small place.
