Mrph, I've lost a watch ...
For future reference - a single snap is not a good way to secure something on my wrist.

Lately, I've been finding that the method of creation or alteration with photos and graphics has become ever clearer to me. I find it somewhat disconcerting when I can look at something and say "oh, they used Illustrator to make that," or think "hmm, I can tell that they used [insert tool here] in [insert program here]."

As far as Xenogears goes, I hate Vierge, and the ponytail attachment gets more annoying with every behind-her camera angle. I mean, what self-respecting "I wanna impress the enemy with my macho machinery" woozy-doozy army makes a Gear in pink? Not just a flat pink, even, but one with designs and varying shades! Someone in the army put effort into this pinkness! Even for someone who's got a father with a lot of pull ... you'd think that dignity for the army would come first. o_o (It's not like pink blends in with the environment, anyway ...)

I do, however, love Citan. With his stats, it seems like he should be the lead male, not Fei. He's faster, stronger, has more HP, heals for more, has more varied moves, learns faster ... go figure.

I'm scared that Bart won't come back, that he really is dead. ._. So what if he's not the strongest? He's awesome! Right after that entire scene with the Yggdrasil happened I thought it was all going to be ok, since he was still in my menu when I got to save, but since then Fei's been all "they're gone, I have no home," and Citan's been very pessimistic about it. Sure, Citan's a man with an agenda of a higher sort it seems and so it may be that he is misleading me to get me to where I need to go, but ... dammit, Citan, I wanna know if Bart's really ok. TT;

I rock at Battling. At least in Easy mode. Oddly enough, while practicing, I found Hard mode easier than Easy. o_O; I only lost one match in the entire thingiemabobber ... my second match against Rico, because I was being careless and wasn't watching my HP meter. XD;

"DUDE. That was SO his mother. OOH OOH OOH!"

I like Rico's character, but as a fighter he surprisingly sucks. When I faced him in the Baptismal Ceremony, I was convinced that it was going to be basically a battle of the shiny ... he would try to be all impressive and I would laugh and chip away at him until he collapsed. He cast all two of his little stats-up things on himself, as did I (though I substituted a heal instead of upping my Def, since Fei can't up Def). I tried to throw Physisol (sp) on Rico, thinking that I could get rid of his enhancements, but the game wouldn't let me. XD; Fully healed and prepared, I was gettin' all ready to attack the next turn, and then suddenly Rico hopped over and did over 1000 damage (or maybe it was in the league of 10,000, but in any case it was a lot more than I had).

"Oooh," right? Well, no. When we went down to the sewers, he was mucho more susceptible to damage than either Citan or Fei, and died so many more times than they did. I was tempted to leave him lying there that one time an Acid Frog kicked him and killed him (for the third time). o_o He may be powerful, but it comes at too great a cost ... he's slow as all hell, and he misses a lot.

His Gear, though it is supposed to be the best money and influence can buy, looks like a tin can with a rocket on the back. o_O Though it has a boatload of HP, which comes in handy, it does not yet have any fancy-dancy options ... so basically I can attack, attack, and attack. Whoopee!

Dominia looked cool, until I saw her Gear. She basically was stuck to a ship and fired missles at me (how cheap!), never took a swipe at me or anything. The Super Whatever that hit me hurt more, but the battle wasn't very hard (just ... long). She thinks she's gonna get me back in the future? Uh-huh, keep dreamin'.

I'm going to post this before I have to restart again ...

Sakaki, do you ever do coloring for other people?
One Who Wanders: calmabiona on July 3rd, 2003 01:56 pm (UTC)
I haven't done any as of this moment, but I wouldn't be adverse to it, you know?

Well, there is reason for this... I'm biting my tongue.

I like Rico as a character, too, but I never use him in battle after the sewers unless I have to. And yeah, his Gear is pretty boring. Dominia has a couple of other Gears, though, and they're much cooler than that cannon she controls. I don't think you'll see them for a while, though...

aah! i love xenogears, its probably one of my all time FAVORITE RPG's, heck it might even just be one of my all time favorite games period.

But yes, I didn't like Rico either, his gear can get some great upgrades and become pretty damn powerful, but i don't know...i've just never been a power house character kinda guy.*shrugs*

Fei is good in my opinion, but your right, he is a kinda annoying as a main character.
Citan has great stats, but I don't know if he would fit the lead.(stats wise, oh yeah)

Keep playing^_^ I hope you have fun with it!

Even though I haven't played the game, I have to be the devil's advocate on the pinkness.

Maybe the various shades are for people like me who would look at flat colors and say, "By the gods, at least be a little more artistic and have some shading going on." And though I know not how the machinery looks (goodness, I really need to play this game), maybe the pinkness is a declaration out to the world that pink is also a color to be considered (as pink is becoming more popular nowadays).

I think I've said enough x).

I just realized earlier that when Vierge hits things, little hearts appear. o_O;

The pink is only the icing on the cake. What really bugs me is how "feminine" Vierge is - it's like slapping us in the face with the fact that its operator is one of the few women you see early on in the game. Elly (the pilot) has strength, but the way Vierge stands/hits/takes falls gives her a very weak feminine appearance. Vierge's legs are longer, thinner, and more like an "ideal" than any of the other Gears the main characters curerntly pilot.

I think they could have made Vierge "female" without going to the extent of that damned ponytail attachment. Also, compared to the other Gears, Vierge has a noticible ... bust. Mecha-boobs. >.>

Although she does kick things in the shins ... I guess I can give her credit for that ...

Re:
Oh my goodness, the ponytail MUST go. Either that or they have to make it at a more realistic size. [What kind of ponytail is that?] Blech. Now I know what you're talking about.

Hm. See, I never looked at Vierge and thought of that thing as a ponytail. It looks like some kind of wing/jetpack kind of thing. I think it's cool. :B The pink doesn't really bother me, either... I mean, maybe it's a little sexist, but they probably just wanted players to be aware that it's a Gear piloted by a female. No one's complaining about the manliness of certain other Gears (piloted by, you know, men)... :P

In any case, other Gears that show up later are a bit more androgynous, and that should please you.
HEADCLEANER: Kokoroantitype on July 4th, 2003 09:31 am (UTC)
Not that I'm totally defending Vierge (or its design) -- the overt girliness of it is a little silly. But it seems to be the one thing you're focusing on and complaining about. There's much more to Xenogears than Vierge. :d
One Who Wanders: amusedabiona on July 4th, 2003 08:01 pm (UTC)
Thank god. : P I'm well aware that there's more to Xenogears than Vierge, and for the most part I'm only blabbing on about Vierge because it occurs to me at the time of writing an entry. : P Allow me to poke some fun at it. XD;
One Who Wanders: cheerfulabiona on July 4th, 2003 08:04 pm (UTC)
I'm not complaining. XD;
It's not androgyny (sp?) that I seek in Gears, I'm just seeking something a little less silly for Elly. XD;

If you want me to "complain" about the manliness of the other Gears, I'll be more than glad to oblige. : P
