halfway deaf and therefore obviously dumb

I suppose it is. Yet, it is something that cannot be changed. I am unable to simply try harder and suddenly hear more. I could focus on it all day and see no results. You, on the other hand, could simply try harder to speak clearly when around me, and there would be an immediate improvement in communications.

Someone needs to slip them some literature on appropriate workplace behavior. ¬¬

Or just tell them people have been sued for less.

I suppose it simply means he doesn't particularly care if you hear what he has to say. But is it his loss or yours?
