Silvermask, that appearing on two screennames at once thing's getting a bit disturbing. o_O I'm waiting for you to use AIM Express and come on three, or pretend to be another person like you did that one time in a group chat, and ... yeah, well, that was ... ::shakes head laughing:: You probably don't remember.

I like Lewis Carroll now.

"'Cheshire-Puss,' she began rather timidly, as she did not at all know whether it would like the name: however it only grinned a little wider. 'Come, it's pleased so far,' thought Alice, and she went on. 'Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?'

'That depends a good deal on where you want to get to,' said the Cat.

'I don't much care where -----' said Alice.

'Then it doesn't matter which way you go,' said the Cat.

'----- so long as I get somewhere,' Alice added as an explanation.

'Oh, you're sure to do that,' said the Cat, 'if you only walk long enough.'" (64-65)

More quotes later if I remember (which, where, and other things). I have to go back down to the basement ...
Current Mood: itchy
Current Music: ... that "killing me softly with his song" song.

Mwahahaha XD
I don't need AIM experess. Trillian can handle more than 2, I think. I dunno what the limit is, but I think it's a whole bunch. I think Sweepteach would be able to exceed it, maybe, lol. That would be disturbing

Oh yes! I do remember that! Hehe.

Instructions on How to Hunt a Snark:
“ ‘You may seek it with thimbles--and seek it with care;
You may hunt it with forks and hope;
You may threaten its life with a railway-share;
You may charm it with smiles and soap--’ “

(“That’s exactly the method,” the Bellman bold
In a hasty parenthesis cried,
“That’s exactly the way I have always been told
That the capture of Snarks should be tried!”)

“ ‘But oh, beamish nephew, beware of the day,
If your Snark be a Boojum! For then
You will softly and suddenly vanish away,
And never be met with again!’

"The Hunting of the Snark" was suppose to be in Carroll's Sylvie and Bruno, but it took a life of its own. Good thing, too...Sylvie and Bruno could get a bit tedious. :-)

For my master's degree, I had to take two literature courses...one was Shakespeare, and the other was Carroll. Very cool courses, both of them. The Carroll course was especially goofy, because I was the only person there who had any mathmatical background, and a good 2/3rds of the course were children's literature experts (including the professor). So, I could answer any math puzzles, but got lost when the topic came to certain authors and such.

Sadly, I'm terribly inept as far as math goes.

::shudders thinking about her past "scholarly career" in math, goes to dig her grave when she thinks about the future courses she'll have to take in order to graduate::

I just realized that Disney combined parts of "Alice in Wonderland" and "Through the Looking Glass" in order to make their version of Alice's adventures. Hmm. o_o

Yeah, Disney did a chop-up job of Alice.

Don't know if you've seen Alice's Adventures Underground (I think it's called). It's Carroll's "rough draft", and has his drawings. I think his editor convinced Carroll to have Tenniel (sp?) do the drawings.

The other thing is Carroll had a passion for is photography. He was one of the best child photographers of his time.

On only a slightly unrelated note, did you see Miyuki Chan in Wonderland and Miyuki Chan in Mirror Land? Anime, very loosely based on the Alice books. I don't know if I'd recommend it...

I wanted to have a focus on photography, but sadly I don't think I'll manage to take any photography classes this year before I have to finally declare one. I guess I'll just stick with illustration, heh. Or maybe they'll let me pick another later. o.o

I haven't seen CLAMP's Miyuki-chan stuff ... I have to say, from what I've heard I don't think I'd be greatly entertained. ^^; "Basically it's just a bunch of girls trying to get fresh with Miyuki" was one of the most verbose descriptions. I've yet to find a CLAMP series that I really like. ._. I feel like a criminal, lol. Everybody's supposed to like CLAMP. ._.;
