I just joined Customers Suck!, (found through Ryn's journal) though I don't know how often I'll be posting. There really are communities for just about everything here. o_O

So is it true that our characters don't carry over into Beta2? Eee. >.> Well, I guess I can recreate them, but that's an awful lot of time I spent with those six characters of mine. ^_^; I'll definitely reserve kowaiyo's name, but I don't know about the rest just yet.

I gotta learn about div (layers?) whatever that stuff is ... it's intriguing. o_o I'll have to look for a good tutorial and hope that the complexity is not way out of my league. ^^;

I'm going to go eat a Fruit Rollup ...

Yeah I really wish that our characters will be transferred to Beta 2... But what I heard, they're not deleting them either. They're just going to put Beta 2 on another server, or something... Blah.

Do we have to re-download the client, or a patch, or anything? I still don't play it yet, but I'll keep checking news so I know when I can reserve new names ^_^

Layers are awesome, and a great way to do a background and foreground (think anime background and anime cel). They do take a bit of mental imagery to keep track of though. Sadly, some oekaki programs aren't as clear as they should be on those, so sometimes you'll end up drawing on the wrong one, thereby defeating the convinence.

One of the other pitfalls with layers is it's not supported evenly across all browser types. It's kind of bad when you spend a lot of time getting the layout *just* right, and then someone views the page with Netscape 4.7 and everything is piled up in the upper left-hand corner :-(.

Oh, gosh, I didn't even think she was talking about anything *but* HTML layers. Dangers of working in the biz, I guess.

Layers are fun, and you can do a lot of neat effects. The trick is to make sure the page can degrade gracefully - have the extra layers not be main content, but just extras.
