Note to self - use agenda/schedule book/thing.
::mutter mutter:: I'd finally like to use Latin for something (albeit something very silly), but all I remember how to say is "Look! Hampster!" (Ecce! Criccetus!), "Drop dead!" (Animam agas!), and other introductory phrases. (Hi, how are you, my name is, and so on.)

Found this here. (And before you ask, no, Babelfish does not translate Latin to English. ^^; And also before you ask, I think I've got the "Sephiroth" part down pat. ^_-)

I can't resist the quizzes. x_x;

Serial Experiments Lain (find out more)

Find out What Anime Best Suits You by taking the quiz yourself!

At the time I purchased the first tape of Lain, I wasn't all that enthralled with it, and disliked it more than anything. (I did, however, finish the tape, which is not something that can be said for Black Heaven. ::gag::) Perhaps I should watch it again, as some years have passed now ... either that, or will somebody let me borrow a copy? : P I'd rather finish other series that I've begun and start a few more after that (Hellsing! Hellsing!!) than complete my set of Serial Experiments: Lain.

My sphere is Ronin (Look for great Ambition and Success), and my class is Defender (Peaceful, yet Potent).

I am a Sentry.

You believe in defending the ones you trust, and you will defend them with all your strength, that's for sure. But who is worthy of that trust? You and you alone decide who is worthy, who is not worthy, and when your moods change. Your friends will heed you as an excellent force to have on their side, but your enemies will loathe you with a passion unequaled.

What kind of Warrior are you?

::nod nod::

I'm convinced now that Computer Art/Design Orientation will be a challenging, intriguing class, and I am kind of looking forward to it ... although I am still afraid, because it is something I've never done before, and have no confidence that I can do. But I will try ... I actually took notes (let me rephrase that term ... I took notes with no doodles) today in class.

So far, Non-Western Art History has been kind of a joke. I am afraid that after I finish my presentation on Friday, it will continue to be a joke of student presentations for the rest of the semester. I'm still pretty antsy about my presentation (which I am still doing reading/research for), because that's a damn lot of information for such a short time period ... particularly since Benin iconography isn't my focus. She confessed today that one reason why she gave me the first presentation was because she knew I was a good student. (Dammit, this time my reputation didn't pay off as I wished it to. lol)

My printer cable is mucked up somehow, and I'm not quite sure how or why. But the thing's not even on though it should be (everything is connected ...), so I've had to develop more creative methods of printing. Basically I can't use Corel WordPerfect right now ... I type things up in Word Pad, save them to my "H Drive" (and not that kind of H, you perverts!!), which I can access from any computer lab on campus. I go and print what needs to be printed there, although the lack of color sometimes makes me sad.

Here's a text file I had sitting around, something I found a very long time ago... But it might be helpful for you.

Lyrics to One-Winged Angel

The lyrics to "A One-Winged Angel" are taken directly from "Carmina Burana," which is an opera written by Carl Orff in the 1930's. Orff based his opera on poems from the manuscript "Benediktbeuern."

The title "Carmina Burana" literally means 'songs of Beuren' and was given by Johann Andreas Schmeller to his complete edition (1847) of the poems contained in an early 13th-century German manuscript (found in 1803) from the Benedictine abbey of Benediktbeuern, south of Munich in the Bavarian region.

Since then, the manuscript has been known by that title even though it is now generally agreed that it probably did not originate in Benediktbeuern and may have come rather from Seckau. There are some poems in German, and several of the poems have music written in unheighted neumes - a relatively rare style of notation at the time. In total, the manuscript contains approximately 250 poems.

Translation:

I remember my Latin class ... I drew everywhere, even on top of my notes and my translations ... and I doodled a lot, because the class was as boring as hell.

We were required to turn in our translations, so usually the night before I'd rip out all my translations and recopy them, doodle free. The last semester of Latin, though, I said "to hell with this!" and turned it in complete with doodles, even though it made it very difficult to read. ^^; After all, this is what I did during class!
