"How do I know if he likes his house?"

Sarah, she has a fish now. Not a goldfish. But it is a fish, complete with fins and a life forever underwater. Poor Beta. "He's cute."

I don't care as long as I'm not saddled with the responsibility for it at any time (I am not cleaning the tank, I am not feeding it), and as long as I am not blamed for its eventual death. But what the hell can you do with a fish, other than kill it sooner or later? You can't pet them. You can't take them for walks. You can't hold them. Most fish do not display traits of intelligence. I don't know about you, but I've always found watching fish to be incredibly boring and rather tedious, not relaxing.

Well, I guess staring at fish could sort of be like a lava lamp experience... but not really, since there's so much stuff involved with taking care of a fish. That, and I don't like lava lamps anyway, SO!

Walter's sister has a ton of fish that she never takes care of any more, yet they seem to survive anyway. But I remember when she used to have to spend a WHOLE Saturday to change their water because she had to filter it all first (we have hard water with copper deposits in them, which kill fish)... and then the little SOBs were always killing one another or getting sick. I mean... you've REALLY got to be into water stuff to have a fish, I guess. In my opinion, though, they're the worst pets ever, even AFTER snakes!

Yup. At least you can touch a snake without the risk of causing it serious physical harm. ._.

Update on the fish situation.

It died sometime this weekend, and I didn't even notice.
